Paris, November 25. M. Bresson has been elected President of the Panama Canal Committee of Inquiry. Members of the Chamber of Deputies arc offering evidence. November 20. The trial of the directors of the Panama Canal Company has been postponed until January 10. M. Delahaye has repeated his vague accusation against the members of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies of corruption in connection with the Panama Canal. He admits that he is unable to give the names of those concerned, but mentions two persons, both of whom are dead. He has also admitted that he has no material, but only moral, proofs. Delahaye reiterates that Baron Reinach, one of the defendants, who died recently from, apoplexy, received a sum of fivo million fraucs with which to bribo a member of the Chamber of Deputies. November 27. The Panama Canal Committee condemn the hurried burial of Baron Reinach, who died suddenly, and ask that his body be exhumed for the purpose of examination.
The Chamber of Deputies has refused to give the Panama Canal Com* mittee judicial powers.
The Committee has requested the public prosecutor to order the banks to surrender tho names of the Deputies who have received cheques from the Company.
