VOLUNTEER HALL TENDERING.
* TO THK EDITOU. Sin,—ln your issue, of 22nd inst., was given the result of the tenders for additions to the Volunteer Hall, the. lowest tender was nut aside and that of £1 above it accepted. No reason was assigned for this course, of action ; but in the. interest of the, public at large and those builder-: who put in pries it will be as well if tlieconntiittr>e of the nhove were asked to state their reasons for reject ing the lowest tender. If it was intended to give the work to volunteers only, why were the public asked to tender? Why not "imply give it to the members nf the clique at the architect's estimate V There is far too much of this kind of favouritism about, and I think that general disapprobation should lie expressed at it. Again asking for an explanation through y >ur columns and apologising for trespassing on your space.— I am, etc. Pro Bono Pmii.ioo.
