WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL

Thk monthly meeting of the ab ivo Council was hold in the Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. Pivsent : Crs. Primrose, (chairman), Seddon. Birngh, Coatee, Johnson. Voitvat, and Puton.

Riihko Accounts..—The following statement of riding accounts was laid on the table by the. clerk :—ln crp.dit : Ringiriri,

SeiMrao account : Thirds, Rangiriri, £27 15s lid (credit). Tk.s'dkbs.—The chairman roporcd th,-it he hud received two tenders for the work on the Matahura road, viz., Hertnan £20. J. Gerrand £18 ISs, the latter of which he had accepted.—The chairman's action was approved. Hill's Casb. —Mr James Lindsay wrote, stating that a considerable amount is duo to him for costs in this case, which if not paid he would have to apply to the court to collect.—The Council said he would have to apply. Matahura.—Six residents, at Mntahura behind the Tanawha Estate applied for a r.iad to ba opened np to their property, so as to allow of their carting grass seed, etc.—Or. Johnson said that he inspected the place and found that the land had only recently being taken up and the Council hid not yet received a penny of rates for this land. The cost of the road would be about £300. Hβ said that he had been informed that £150 bad been placed on tho estimates through the influence of Mr Lake for expenditure on this road.—Tt was decided to c immunicate with Mr Lake on the subject. Closing Road.— The Chief Surveyor, Auckland, forwarde.fi the plans in connection with road closing at CUudelands approved by him. They were .signed by the Chairman and the land ordered to be sold. Road Exchange.—Mr 11. Uibb agreed to give a road through his property as near as possible to the present road in exchange for the surveyed track provided all expenses nre paid by the Council. —Cr. John* sun suml tlie surveyed mad r.in nlnns M<e bauk of the river and would cost about £40 to make fit for traffic and he was in favour of agreeing to Mr Gibb's request.— The Chairman pointed that the Council had no power to close a rood along the bank of a river and the clerk was instructed to reply to this effect.

Encsinkkr.s' Rkport.—A lengthy report was received from Mr Fnirburn, County Ensrinser as to works in the Raneiriri riding recommending works in virions parts amounting to £227 2s. The revenue for the Kangiriri district for the present year was estimated at about £700, and Cr. Johnson thought that £100 could be expended on these works. If tenders were called for all the works recommended the Council could accept tenders up to the amount which can be granted.—The clerk was instructed to request tho engineer to draw up the specifications and to advertise for renders for the whole works.

Payments.—The following accounts were passed for payment :— Hospital Board, £117 10s; Johnson, £1. 10s; Paton. 10s; Forrest, 10s ; W. B;itefr, CI ; A. Neil, 15s ; Hamilton Borough, £o 3s M ; A. Connollv, ss: I). Hertnan, £2 10s ; clerk. £V 2 10*. " Next Mektisg.— It was decided to hold the next meeting on December 33rd, instead of the previous week, as usual.
