Signalmen are protesting against overwork and undue pressure. Brisbane, November S. The wharf labourers at Cooktown have struck for higher wages. Men are scarce owing to the rush setting in for the Batavia river goldfield. {Sydney, November S. There is a great rush for employment in the Broken Hill silver mines.
