An idea is abroad that provided the assistants are allowed away the proprietor is permitted to carry on his business as usual. We quote the. 3rd Clause of th« Act which bears upon tin* point, and it is clear from it that every simp except those specially exempted iuu>t be dosed on the day fixed upon. The following is a copy of the Clause :—All shops in a city, borough, or town district, except news-agents'shops, chemists'" shops, inilk-shops, colft-e houses, restaurants, eating-houso.s, coo iVct 5 oners', fish and oyster-shops, and fruit and vege-table-shops, shall be elo-ed in each week on the afternoon of oue woi k'ing-day at the hour of one of the cloelv
