THE GOVERNOR'S VISIT TO WAIKATO.

Ox Tuesday afternoon a meeting was held at the Hamilton Borough Council Chainhew to consider what steps should be taken to receive the Governor to-day. Mr I. Coates (Mayor of Hamilton) presided. In reply to a telegram sent by the i°wn Clerkl asking His Excellency if he would receive an addresses, the Private Secretary wired " His Excellency will be pleased to receive a deputation from Mayor and Councillors at Hamilton West railway Btation next Thursday, if railway arrangements permit it." Mr R. F. Sandes explained that he had seen eome of the Kailway officials and it would be impossible to alter the railway arrangements so as to allow His Excellency to stay at Hamilton West ns the time for his stay would be limited to about an hour and a-half. The Town Clerk was therefore instructed to send ttp following telegram " Regret that train arrangements will not allow of presentation of address on this occasion. His Excellency will arrive at Hamilton East about 2.35 p.m. to-day, where he will be met by Mr James Hums, President of tho Association, and conducted to tne ground. The Governor's stay will be very limited, as he has to return to Auckland for a ball in the evening.
