Detainer came out in the Steeples, and after a Rood race beat Ju-tice, the jumping of the three placed hor:ies (D-tamer, Justice and Peter) Peine splendid. The winner of the Ladies' Bracelet was found in Selwyn, and NVro was again successful in the Farmers' Plate. The top weight (.Minnie) won tho Flying Stakes rather easily, and afterthe mo-t) interesting race of the day Maritana beat Blue Peter by a neck and won the TallyHo Steeples. Of the riders Mr A. H. Storey was the most successful, scoring three wins out of four mounts, two on his own horse, Nero, and the third on Miss Weal's Selwyn in the Bracelet, while on Duchess he did not get a place. The other winning riders wero Creamer on Castanette, Mr J. \V. Wallace on Detainer, Mr G. McGlashan on Minnie and Mr R. Henwood on Maritana. Mr A. J. Storey who, however, did not manage to register a win was second on threj occasions. Of the sires of winners, Ingomar claims three, Nero twice, and Selwyn ; Anteros two, Castanette and Minnie; Opawa one, Defamer; and Hippocampus one, Maritana. Coming round tho back turn Nero began to move up and at the entrance to the straight was close up to Sceptress. Justice was first back on to the fc course again, followed by Peter, Wairiri, 1 Defamer, and Alex. At the hurdle in the ' straight Peter went to the front and led fc over tho water and wattle fence, followed : by Justice, Wairiri, Defamer, and Alex.
