SPORTING.
WAIKATO HUNT CLUB RACES,
At the time of writing there is every appearance of the weather being fine for tho annual gathering of the members of the Waikiit i Hunt Club, which will be held at Claudolands, Hamilton East, this afternoon, and given tino weather the meeting should prove a very successful one. Seven events uro set down for discussion, and in all good fields are engaged, so that some good racing may be expected. A lurgo number of the horses are making their lirst appearancein public, and it is a diHicilt job to pick the winners, but the following are my selections for the various events : — lluitllLKS—Defiimer. Maidkn—Cast a net te. Stekpm«—Defauier. Bhaci'XKT—Seep tress. F.UiMKUS—Waverloy. Flying—Minnie or Cast inette, Taija'-Ho —Sceptress. BIIKASTL'LATK. By an oversight, the name of Mr McGlashan's mare Secret was omitted in tho cards in the Maiden Plate. The Hamilton Volunteer Band, under Bandmaster Meachem, will play tho following selections during the afternoon :—Slow march, "Elephant," J-[. von dor Mululmi ; quickstep, "Love Not," E. Newton ; valse, "Sweet Lavender," J. Weaver; polka, " Dorette," E. Newton ; quickstep, " Doos Your Heart ISeat True to Me," Lir.ter; waltz, "Miißgio Murphy's Home," U. Bruham ; quickstep, ''Good-bye Sweet heart, ''J. L. Hatton ;gallop, "Telophune," J. Frost; "God Save the O^ieen."
