THE SALVATION ARMY,
(BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. —COPYRIGHT). London, September 2. General Booth declares it is too late to attempt to cause a split in the ranks of the Salvation Army. The liabilities of the Army exceed its assets by £55,000, including sesuntics which are valued at £25,000. He says it is untrue that personally he is a wealthy man and declares he lives on one shilling a day. September 3.
General Booth admits th-ifc ho is up to his neck in financial difficulty, bat still relios on the public to provide £30,000 a year for the " Darkest Eng« lnnd" scheme. Ho states thai he has alrendy expended £lb'5,0()0 on the scheme, which he believes, when once the corner is turned, will prove a great business success. The General intends to begin a pawn-brokerage on the Parisian system. He asserts that the secession movement in Canada is of an unimportant character.
