[ Mr Kirkwood had suggested that the spare piece of ground at the east end of the lake - should be levelled and then be planted with clumps of trees, and in fact be converted J into a miniature park or pleasure ground in which the townspeople might lv>ld picmu-', . etc., and he (the chairman) certainly thought the suggestion an excellent ooe. — , Mr Kirkwood said the ground was at pre- , sent lying waste, and he would like to see I it beautified and made into a place where I picnics, school sports, and such like gather- , ings could be held. He knew that many I parents spent an anxious day when the 3 ounday-school picnics were being held, for , thsir children were usually conveyed a mile . or two out of town in all surfs of vehicles — j sumetitntu, with very indiffereut drivers —ty ; places not ntrarly as pretty as this portion [ of the domain could b« made. I Cl'nuC'i to grub tho furze, plough and levnl , the ground, and do all that was necessary j to hie (the speaker's) for £7. I This would include special attention to a t portion of the ground to be laid off for t children's r.ices, etc.—The Board accepted ! Mr Crouch's tender, the work to be done to the satisfaction of Mr Kirkwood and the » chairman. t SITB-LRTTINft DOMAIN SECTIONS. — The i clerk was instructed to write Mr J.
