AUCKLAND NEWS
(by telegraph.—own cokbespondenu) Auckland, Last Night. Mr S. Firth, son of Mr J. C. Firth, died this murninic. Up to the time of his de "cense he had been acting as third engineer on the Union Company's coastal steamer Australia. Hβ had been ailing for some time past from an abscess at the back of his head, and he stayed behind on the last trip of the Australia to undergo an operation for its ro.noval. Influnation however set in and reaching the brain caused death at (> a.m. fco-day. Mr Firth leaves a wife and family
At n special meeting of the shareholders of the Northern River Steam Navigation Company to-day, it was decided to wind up the Company by reason of the liabilities. Mr L. D. Nathan takes over the business.
