TESTING MILK.

A striking illustration of the benefits which will" accrue to milk suppliers from the better system of testing miik, which is now being introduced into their factories by Messrs Reynolds and Or', was given recently at Pukerimu. Two samples of milk were tested by (he Babcock teeter. No. 1 giving an ecjuivaleut of 10, and No. 2 of 13 per cent, of crenm. Similar samples were at the same time, set up in the ordinary cream glasses, with the strange result that No. 1 again showed 10 per cent., but No. 2 only 11 per cent of cream. The above experiment, which wns carried out by Mr Reynolds himself, furnishes another proof of the unreliability c;f the cream gauge glass, as a means of testing the proportionate richness of milk.
