There are between 40,000 and 50,000 ragpickers in Paris, divided into three classes, besides the maitre chiffonier, who is wellto do. A first section of the Congo railway line is expected to be opened in a few months The length of the section will be about twelve miles. A foreign letter says : Though Wales is deteriorating, and even the language is dying out, there is a colony of 50,000 Welshmen in London.
