WHATAWHATA BUTTER FACTORY
The annual meeting of milk suppliers to the above factory was held on Thursday last, at 10 a.m. Most of the suppliers were present, Mr A._ Dawson (chairman of trustees) presiding.— The accounts submitted by the secretary were as follows: — Bank account—Credit: To balance in hand October Ist, 1891, £1 15a 6d ; cheques paid in to date, £941 3s 6d ; total, £942 19s. Debit : By cheques drawn to data, £873 18s; balance in hand, £G9 Is ; contributions due from suppliers, £22 14s; balance required to makn up third instalment of loan, £8 4s 8d ; total, £100.—Expenses in connection with the factory during the year: Digging small well, 10s ; carting water, £1; stamps, telegrams, eto., 12s; rent of factory site, 10s; advertising start of factory, Gs ; insurance premium on £250, £4 7s (id; refund of small loan with interest, £10 15s ; total, £22 14s 4d.—The accounts were adopted, and the secretary was instructed to get in all outstanding contributions at once.—lt was resolved that the trustees raise the small amount required to irake up the last instalment of loan. —The secretary was also directed to communicate with Messrs Reynolds and Co., re the future disposal of the factory, the firm's present lease having expired.—From the foregoing it will be seen that the position of the butter factory is a very satisfactory one. Ibe loan of £300 which was obtained with so much trouble is now almost paid off, and whatever may be the future of the milk trade, the Whatawhata settlers have certainly shown that they can work unitedly together when the object is a sound business one.
