WAIKATO HUNT CLUB.
The usual weekly nmot with Mr Bullock Webster's hounds took place on Saturday, the vlacn o f rendezvous being the Cross Roads, Tamahere. A large number of horsemen assembled on the occasion, in I fact, the largest muster that have been seen out this season. A fair sprinkling of tho fair sex also graced the occasion. Amongst those present we noticod the Master (Mr H. Bullock-Webstor), ou Blue Peter ; Messrs Lake, on Muacatello ; W. Thornton, on an lngomar ; Biiley, on Dun Juan; Domrlaa, on Itawa; Fletcher, on Naucy ; Rathborne, on Master; Cussen, on Commissioner ; Wyatt, on a bay ; Bach, on Peter; H. Weal, on Jangler; C. Weal, on a brown ; Crowe, on Crazy Kate; Latham, on a chestnut; W. Windsor, on Oranpre Lightning; P. Emerson, on » chestnut ; Alexander, on a Morrylegs ; Collins, on an lngomar; Hannoo, on an Ingomar ; and a number of others. The hounds prncocdod towards the Narrows, and threw off in » paddock belonging to Mr Day on the bankn of the river, but without result. Several paddocks belonging to the same gentleman were then tried, but puss must have been out for an airing, as the hounds were unable to discover a single hare. A move was then niade ovor Crawford , * Gully on to Mr R. Cowley's property* and after a little Seating about quito a number of hares were found, which afforded one or two very pretty runs, but " puss " in each caso would persist in making for the bush, which ended in her getting lust, at least from a huntsman's point of view. Messrs Seymour and Douglas' properties were then tried, and a fine hare was soon found in a paddock of the latter gentleman, which after a short run managed to elude her pursuers by going to cover in a large plantation. As the day was drawing to a close a move was made towards home across Messrs Douglas and Cowley's paddocks, but without any further find. Numerous spills took place in the course of tho day, but in each case the riders succeeded in escaping unhurt, and everyone returned to their homes well pleased with the day's outing.
The hounds will meet at Bruntwood, on .Saturday next, when a drajj will be laid over Mr Douglas' new country, and at which, as is usually the case, a large gathering of sportsmen may be expected to put in an appearance.
