TO THE EDITOR. 3m,— Not-hirjß adds to the comfort of the travelling public so much as » vroll-formed road. The fiwt rule—solf-ncttnpf drainage— which is obtained by the proper formation of the road, should have first attention, which is this ? Lowor the aidea from out to out; then from the centre the crude line ehould be ono foot to fourteen, the hard material, of cuurae, in the im'd'lle. If these simple rules were carried out, before the winter time, wo ehould always have Rood roadn. These are the rules of the late James Macadam, and are strictly carried out on all the main roads of England and Scotland.—l am, etc. C.K Cambridge.
