Weal's br g Tupara, 4vrs, O.stSlb, (Owner) Never Miss was the first away, and approaching the fi r st hurdle lie had two length*'lead of Belmont, after whom came Fabulous and Coiiranto, Tuparj being next, with Lonely last. Never Miss took the field along at a sound pace, and as they jumped the hurdle opposite the half-mile post he had five lengths lead _of Belmont ; but as they raced to the straight the latter closed up the gap, and passing the stand only two lengths separated them, Tupara being third five lengths behind, Conranto and "Fabulous following on close terms, while Lonely wa- still u bad last. At the bottom turn Belmont got on terms with Never Miss, and they jumped tho next hurdle toeother, five lengths in advance of Fabulous and Couranti, who were racing together. Never Miss began to draw away a,'ain in the roil up the back stretch, and lie led Belmont a length into the cutting, but on emerging Belmont again got on t ii'ins, and the pair raced locked together to the entrance t) the straight, where Belmont had his opponent beaten, and coming on ho jumped the last hurdle two lengths in front of Never Miss, Couranto half-a-lengtb behind in third place. Though the top weight, struggling very gamely under his heavy impost, caught Never Miss in the last few strides, be could not reach Belmont, who won by two lengths, Couranto being a head in front of Never Mis--, after whom came Lonely, Fabulous, and Tupara. 01b (Mr T. R. Bell) 3 St. Michael leil tor two furlongs when Tulloch took up the running, but Stranger soon drew level and never being headed won easily by a couple of lengths. Time, linin. Slisecs. Ingorangi then took up the running, followed by Chance and Couranto. At the top of the liill the last, round Shillelagh was in front, and Somnambulist baulked at the second jump at the top of the lull. A great race home ensued between Shillelagh and Couranto, but Shillelagh, holding his own, ran home a winner by two lengths. Time, Smin. 49sec. Dividend: Inside, £0 Is; outside, £5175.
