JEALOUSY TOWARDS NEW ZEALAND.
♦ ■ (by telkgraph.—press association). Wellington, Last iNTiglit. T)r. Grace, who has just been representing New Zealand at the annual minting of the Australian Mutual Provident Society, in Sydnay, on being interviewed said that he observed the jealousy towards New Zealand and its progress which hs thought arose from tli9 character and extent our good productions, and because we would not federate. The labour market of New South Wales is glutted to an abnormal extent, and he could not see any systematic attempt to relieve it, The cause was probably th 3 sudden cessation of the expenditure of borrowed money and the want of thrift which had led the people to spend as last as they made money. Extravagant sums have bean spfentjon adorning Sydney and railways have been built and equipped regardless of cost.
