JUDGE EDWARDS' CASE.
« THE APPEAL ALLOWED. (BY TELEGBAPn. — PKES.S ASSOCIATION). Wellington, Lust Night. The Government have received a cable message from the Agent-General, stating tlmt tho appeal in the case Buckley v. Edwards was allowed, the Court holding that Judges can only be appointed fur whom a salary has been fixed by law. No costs were allowed on either side. (by elkotrio telegraph.— copyright.) London, May 22. The decision in the appeal case, Buckley v. Edwards, was given yesterday by the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. The case was brought by the Government of New Zealand to the validity of the appointment of Mr Edwards as a Judge of the Supreme Court, and the decision was in their favour. No oosts were allowed on either side.
