R.M. COURT, HAMILTON.
Friday, May 20th.— Bofore Capt. Jackson, R.M. Judgment.—Judgment was given in the case Daley v. Maloney, the evidence in which was heard last court day. Mr Dyer appeared for the plaintiff and Mr O'Neill for the defendant. In this case the plaintiff was suing his sister for the sum of £3(1, for work done ; there was a set off of £38. The evidence was very contradictory, and His Worship said in such cases it was very fiard to arrive at a just conclusion. Judgment was given for plaintiff, £1 14s !)d, and costs, £1 12s Oil. Rath Casks.—Judgment was given for the plaintiffs in the following rate cases brought by the Waikato County Council for rates overdue. The rate books, etc., were produced by the collector, Captain McPhersnn :—Waikato County Council v. Richard Storey, claim ISs 3d. and ISs costs. Same v. Sarah Bridget, or owner, claim, 6s 3d, for two years' rates. The rate book for 18!)1 was produced, showing the rates due, with the arrears carried forward. The R.M. held that as the rate book had not been produced from which the arrears had been carried forward it had not been proved. He therefore gave judgment for 3s 2d, being one years' rates only, with costs, £1 ss. W. Roth well v. W. Fawkks.—Claim £4 10s, for a cow sold and delivered. Mr Hay appeared for the plaintiff and Mr O'Neill for the defendant. The Court was occupied the greater part of the day, hearing the evidence in this case. The R.M. reserved his decision until next court day. Mr T, G, Sandes invites tenders for deepening a well. Cottage and two acres of land for sale in Hamilton. Apply to G. H. Carter, Hamilton. Mr H. Howdon, watchmaker and jeweller, Hamilton, calls special attention to the repairing branch of his business. The Matamata Road Board will make a rate of one halfpenny in the £ for the current year. Mr W. S. Gordon, Rotorua, gives notice of intention of applying for an accommodation license. Messrs C. Wood and Co,, Auckland, are purchasers of wool, tallow and sheepskins in any quantity. Soaps of various stock on hand. A man found a rough-looking individual in his cellar. "Who arc you?" ho demanded. " The gasman, mmn to takethn meter,'' was the reply. " Good gracious," cried the householder, " I hoped you were only a burglar." Garlick: and Cran'well have jusc issued the most complete illustrated furnishing book catalogue that has been published in this colony. It, will prove especially convenient for country customers, storekeepers, and others about to furnish. Illustrations ami prices are given of hall, drawing, dining, and bedroom furniture. Young people about to marry will find it a great assistance in making up their list and estimating cost of furnishing. It also sluws how a three-roomed house can be furnished for £17 10s ; four rooms for £38: five rooms for £80; six rooms for £150. Full particulars of bedding and iron bedsteads, and general furnishing goods. You will not do better than furnish from Garlick and Cranwell, Queen-street, Auckland.
