o TA OTA 0110 A. Tlirc newly elected Board crnsisls <if Mrssrs S. S.-ddon, Jas. Bailey, H. J. Turner, JI. K. liiunskill, mid Gen. Hally. Tlio (inly change is that Mr IT-iliv lias replaced Mr W. F. Buckland, M.11.K. Tho Board met at the Criterion Hotel, Cambridge, on Raturdnv. there being preaont: Messrs Seddon, Bailey and Brunskil!. Ofkickiis.—Mr SpcWdh was unnniimuiply re-elected chairman, and Captain MePhorson was appointed clerk, treasurer, collector, etc., etc. The minutes of the last regular meeting—held in January— wore re:id and confirmed, and tho business transacted at three informal meetings (when there was not a quorum) was duly legalised. TltOUT.—Mr Cheesernan wrote stating that the Auckland Acclimatisation Society would prive 100 rainbow trout to be liberated in the Tarititnroa, stroarns ; but that they would not be forwarded till the weather was colder. Mr Brimskill will tike delivery and attend to the fish bcirn; liberated in snitablnstreams. Mr Bailey said yenra a«o hundreds of trout h.-nl been put in the Tnotaoma and Upper Waikat'i creeks, but none of them seomed to have survived. Wβ cannot understand why this should be, for the Waimakarin and other streams about Oxford fairly teem with trout; and yet Hie Pokaiwhenuaand Waipa creeks, which discharge into the Waikato, nppenr to be equally suitable for the fish, travewn almost the same country as the former, and they are devoid of trout. Financk.— The Board has a credit balance of £10S '.U 2d, so it was decided not to strike a rate this year, unless some unforeseen work shnuld be urgently required. _ WoiiKS.— It was decided to put a set of six inch pipes in the Whitehall road, near Mr Bninskill's. Accounts.—The only account passed for payment was W. Souter and Co., £1 7s for drain pipes. This closed tho business. CAMBRIDGE BOARD. The whole of the former members of this Board were re-elected, and they were all present at the meeting held on Saturday, at Cambridge, viz., Messrs Jas. Forrest, J. Taylor, M. 11. Pickering, H. J. Paton and Jas. Bailey. Officers.—Mr Jas. Forrest was unanimously re-elected Chairman, and Captain McPherson was appointed clerk, treasurer, etc. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Thobnto.v Road.—Mγ Breakell wrote calling the attention of the Board to the state of this road from section 235 to the town boundary.—Mr Bailey said there were a great many holes in the road.—The Chairman was authorised to have repairs executed upon it to the extent of £5, A Tbap.— Mr Taylor said there was a cutting across the footpath in Victoria road that was a perfect trap on a dark night. It was at the junction of the borough with the road district. He thought a set of pipes should be put in and the cuttiner filled.—lt was thought the Borough Council •hould do the work as it had turned water that way, while the Road Board had not done so.—The Chairman undertook to interview the Mayor on the matter.

Pies on the Road.—The Chairman said he had received complaints that piers were rooting up the road near Mrs Hannon's farm. —The clsrk was instructed to write Mrs Hannon that if the pigs referred to were hers, she must keep them off the public road. Finance.—The balance sheet, that should havp been signed at fchia meeting, had not been audited ; consequently the signing , of it was adjourned to a future meeting.—The Clerk said the Audit Department was nt present, somewhat disorganised, owing to the sudden death of Major Tisdall, and the illness of M. O'Hara Smith. The Board hnd a credit balance of £103 13s 10d, but the riding owed the county £92 for Hospital charges. A Government subsidy of £54 was due—for which he had applied— and he had no reason to suppose it would mt bR paid : hut the matter rested entirely with the Colonial Secretary, and os the Ministry were anxious to show a surplus they might stick to the money. If the County C"uncil struck a rato for the Hospital charges, he thought the Board would even thon require a jd ra*e for general purposes.— Hfl was instructed to give the usual notification that a rate of jd in the pound would be struck at next meeting. The Main Road.—The Clerk said this road needed gravelling, especially near Mr Paton's farm.—After considerable discussion as to where the gravel was to be obtained, etc., it was resolved to do a portion of the work. Mr Forrest will prepare specifications, and tenders will bo called for laying from 500 to 1000 yards of gravsl on the road ; such tenders to be returnable at the next meeting of the Board.
