(BY lsi/iiunac TBLECIUPH. — cspvrioht) Melbo'irxe, April 30. Nothing fresh has occurred at Deem itig's trial, 'lhc exhibits in the case are so numerous that the Court resembles a general store. It is expected that the case will conclude today. The prisoner's demeanour is that ot a man who has abandoned hope. He looks careworn and dejected.

May 1. Williams in his defence lias adopted a new line. He will assort, through, liis counsel, that Miss Mathers, whom he married in England, is still alive, and that she cleared out; that the body found at Windsor was that of another woman, who miglit have been murdered six months ago,and further, that the body is so decomposed that it is impossible to identify it. Counsel, though not bringing evidence to support these contentions, submit them to the jury for consideration. Tho medical evidence has strengthened the belief of the detectives that Williams is identical with Jack the Hipper. 1 May 2. Medieul experts decline to pronounce Williams insane. One modical witness stated that his previous actions were not like those of an insane person, and another describes him as an instinctive criminal, but not insane. The ease for the defence opens this morning. London, April 29. Albert Deeming denies that Fredc* rick, or any member of tho family, was ever insane or under restraint. He condemns Edwards for slandering his dead narouts, and also dailies that Frederick was over known as " Mad Fred."
