CAMBRIDGE WEST.

Thh Vukekura Mutual Improvement Society met in the Cambridge West Public Hall, on Wednesday, and although the evening proved wet a fair number attended. The meeting was devoted to political questions, Mr Jonathan Bridgtnan being chairman. Mr Geo. Comer, as an " oppositionist," gave an address, alter which he was fairly deluged with questions, however, he negotiated most of them in a satisfactory manner. Mr H. Bloomfiekl was a Government supporter, and he hod evidently studied his subject for he was very ready with answers to question?, and must have made an impression on the " eunstitnenoy," for when the poll was declared the Government- had a slight majority. The next meeting will be devoted to poetry, Hood's works being specially chosen for the occasion.
