WELLINGTON NEWS.
(by telegraph.—press association). Wellington, Las'; Night. The Cabinet has decided to summon Parliament not latir than June 23rd ; possibly, if the new taxation returns are ready in time, the session may begin a week earlier. The Premier eoes South to-day, to attend a banquet to Mr Ward at Winton. Ho will address a public meeting at Inveicargill on Saturday. On Saturday last Mr McKcllar, who has occupied the position of Secret u-y of Customs for several years, practically severed his connection with the Civil Service. Mr McKellar, who entered the Customs nearly forty years atto, has been compelled by the Government to retire on his pension, at the age of 57. His successor is Mr W. T. Glasgow. Mr McKellar is away from office on three months' leave, and at the end of that period he ceases t > be connected with the service.
