At the residences of the judges who heard the charges against the Anarchists, the guard had been increased. Many residents in Paris are asking for police protection. April 30. The city is virtually in a state of siege, and the shops will universally be closed on May Day. No crowds are to be allowed to collect. In Marseilles gieat military precautions have been taken to prevent outrages. Two squibs were exploded in the Town Hall at Dijon. The police hurrying to the spot found a box of explosives with two burning fuses attaohed. The object of the Anarchists apparently was to attract a large crowd to the hall by the explosion of squibs, and then destroy it by moans of dynamite. Owing to the threats of the Anarch ists, the Paris Bourse and upper galleries arc closed. Lheriot, who gave testimony against Bavacbal, has fled from Paris. American and English cafes in Paris are threatened by the Anarchists. Five Anarchists have been expelled from Nice. Two petards have been found in the Church of St. Dennis. Many fires reported in St. Etienne wore caused by infernal machines, Behltx, April 29. The local press continue to ridicule tlio verdict of the French judges, and assert that the country is going down hill. Madhid, April 29. Many arrests have been made at Barcelona. A quantity of arms and Anarchist manifestos have been seized. April 30.
The workmen throughout the country propose to celebrate May Day in a peaceful manner. Rome. April 29. Three hundred Anarchists have been arrested in Northern Italy. The Government has dissolved twenty Anarchists Workmen's Societies in varies parts of tho country. Bombs have been exploded in various places without effect. At Facnza seven arrests were effected, and at Rome three. April 30. Fifty Anarchists have been arrested in the city and a similar number at Carrara, Ravenna, and Bologna. At Florence -10 were taken into custody London, April 30. Immense meetings in favour of tho eight kouts' movements will be held in Hyde Park to morrow. Addresses will bo dolieerod by Messrs Tillet, Mann, Burn", and McCarthy. It is not expected that any disturbance will take place. Brussels, May 1. An unsuccessful attempt has boon made to dynamite the National Bank of Belgium.
