CHILDREN'S ATHLETIC SPORTS AT CAMBRIDGE.
Thr sports in connection with the Cambridge public school, and also the open races for boys and girls for prizes given by the Cambridge Sports Committee, came off on Thursday, and proved a grand success. The handicapping in the open races reflects great credit upon Mr A. Bach, who arranged them, the finishes being very close. In the boys' imcs the scratch boy was a good second, which demonstrates that Mr Bach must be a good judge of the capabilities of the young performers. The school handicaps were arranged by Mr Jos. Bell, and they also cava great satisfaction. The headmaster (Mr R. C. Dyer) and his assistant teachers had a busy day, but they found a number of most willing helpers, and it is in a great measure due to the latter that everything passed off so well. Messrs R. Kirkwood, C. Tuck, A. Bach, H. Kerr, and G. Collins worked most energetically, and deserve the thanks of the children. We note these gentlemen are always to the foro when anything is got up for the children's good.
