(by telegraph.—press ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, Last Night. THE Labour Bureau is making arrangements to issue coupons to men in search of work, which will entitle them to a meal for 6d The ownera of accommodation houses in the country districts have expressed their willingness to accent these coupons. As soon as the men obtain employment they cease to be entitled to coupons. At the annual meeting of the Wellington Employers' Association, it was decided to enlarge the field of operations. The Trades Council has passed the following resolution : " That a sufficient sum of money be raised to establish in business the tramway men on strike, and that all moneys so raised shall be applied solely for the benefit of the men." The idea is to establish the men in a 'bus service in opposition to the trams. It is asserted that never in the history of Wellington was there such a prevalence of typhoid fever as during the last month. Twenty-one cases were reported to the City Council during March, and there were at the same time 60 cases under treatment at the Hospital. In nearly every case the evil was directly traceable to defective drainage and sanitation. With the cold weather approaching, the epidemic appears to have passed. . James Craig has been committed for trial on the charge of setting fire to his cottage at Rilverstream. H.M.S. Tauranga left for Sydney via New Plymouth this afternoon.
