Mr Webster, ex governor of the Hull Gaol, has also identified the prisoners tho man who passed as Hurry Lawson in Hull and Beverley, and this completes identity with the Rainhill murderer. A hammtr-headed axe used in post mortems was found amongst Williams' luggage, in addition to a dis-scctiug-knife. Tho Melbourne police have obtained nossosssion of nine very mysterious packages, which arrived from London by the ship Lord Shaftesbury. The vessel is not a passenger carrying vessel, and was consequently unloaded into lighters. During the. operation Tidowaiter Orr had his attention called to a large package that had become damaged and .almost fell to pieces when removed by tho stevedores. When it was hauled up several articles fell out, and these proved to be child' ren's toys, ladies' wearing apparel, a boy's tricycle, and books. The clothing and toys appeared to havo boon worn. Tho label on tho package was branded " WW." and was addressed to a southern suburb. Tho tide waiter instantly thought of Williams, tho Windsor murderer, and, after a search eight other packages with similar brands and addresses were found. The police flag was hoisted, and tho handed over to Sergeant Dwyer.
