VALUE OF LIME.
Tub value of lime is much appreciated by fruit-growers and farmers in New South Wales. There it is used largely, and with the best results. We notice, however, that the price in the neighbouring colony is very much lower than it in with us, though the reason for this is not quite so clear. As an instance, lime can be obtained from the New South Wales Lime Company at Ben Culleu, aud from several other firms, at the reasonable price of 9s Oi per ton. The railway haulage also compares favourably with our own, as the following few quotations will show : Railway rates, 0-ton truck. Miles s. d. 50 4 10 per ton 100 8 li 150 10 0 ~ 200 12 2 For smaller lots of, say, 1 ton, a slightly
higher rate is charged, but these few quotations are sufficient to show that lune, if it is to obtain univeivnl use, must, aud can, be sold cheap,
