LAND AND INCOME TAX.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l amongst many others in the Hamilton Riding am shamefully overvalued. The assessor made many of us believe that it did not matter about values, as w« small fry would not have to pay Property-tax, only the big bugs; juddu our surprise ill finding that we shall have to pay ill some cases, nearly double the amount of road and county rates we had under the old valuation. I see if we do not object and post our objections before the 19th inat., we shall be saddled with three years of unjust taxation. In my opinion yalues should have been reduced all round, and not increased, as it is much more difficult to sell land now than it was three years ago. Will you Mr Editor, tell us what steps we must take against this injustice.—l am, etc, Ratepayer.
