TAURANGA TRAGEDY.
MUNRO COMMITTED TO THE ASYLUM. (BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Auckland, Last Nieht. THE Supreme Court wad occupied to-rl iv ! hearing the sad case against Duncan Munro the perpetrator of the Tauranga tragedy. Mr Moss, solicitor, appeared on behalf of the accused, and a plea of in.-a.nity was set up. The proceedings wero of a painful character. When Munrn's brother was giving Ins evidence he wept bitterly, and the unfortunate man knelt down in the dock and prayed. Subsequently he sane tho hymn " Safe in the Arms of Jesus," while Constable Wheelan was being examined. The jury found accused not guilty on the fearful charge, and he was committed to tho Avondale Asylum by Judge Connolly, As Munr> was being removed from the dock he sang the doxology, " Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow."
