At the Supreme Court John Charles Dawson was found guilty «f false pretences, and sentenced to three years' hard labour, Michael Corcoran was found guilty of robbery from the person, and sentenced to 12 months' hard labour. Win. Carter, John Aldon, and Charles Cockroft, throe lads, were acquitted. The Grand Jury found true bills in all the cases except that of Emannnel Font, charged with setting fire to the ship Everest.

BLENHEIM, Last Night. Benjamin Warmouth, a man aged 49, was found drowned in the Wairau River yesterday near the rook ferry, 15 miles from Blenheim. He leaves a wife and five children, mostly grown up. DUNEDIN, Last Night. The action brought by Jas. Scott against Richie and others is before the Supremo Court. Plaintiff claims to recover expenses and costs in connection with the leasing of the run 93a, on behalf of defendant, and indemnity aeainst further proceedings. WHANGAREI, Last Night. Mr R. P. Forrest, a settler at Mairtown, near Whangarei, had his house and furniture totally destroyed by fire at 12 o'clock last night. The house was covered in the New Zealand Insurance Company for £150, and the furniture in the North British Mercantile fur £100.
