Mr Edward Blake, Q.C., who from ISSOto 1887 led the Liberal party m the Dominion Parliament, is reported to be willing to resume tho leadership, on condition that a commercial union with the United States is adopted, instead of unrestricted reciprocity. Two of the Judges of the Royal Commission set up to investigate the Chaleur-Baie railway scandal condemn the Hons. Messrs Mercier and Langelier, Premier and President of tho Council respectively, of complicity, but the other Judges acquit all the accused, except for carelessness.
