FLOODS IN THE SOUTH.

(BY TELEGRAPH.—-PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Ashbuuton, Last Night. The weather has taken up again and the crop prospects are more hopeful. Inveucabgill, Last Night. On Tuesday an immense quantity of rain felt in the Lumsden district. The township was inundated for a time, some damage being done to gardens, stores, and dwellings. The dome bridge on the Kingston line was partially washed out, and it will probably be a week before traffic is possible over it. Dunrdin, Last Night. The damage to the railway line on the Taieri section has been sufficiently repaired to allow of trains running. On the Outrain line the water is still three feet deep on the railway line. The water on the Plains is rapidly subsiding. By Saturday probably some idea of tho damage done may be gathered.
