The bridtfos at Wharekare, Awnkino, Otiate and Otekaike are down, as well as those at Kumw and Duntroon. Railways were badly damaged, and many farms submerged. The Maerewhenua is still rising. At dark last night several settlers had narrow escapes from drowning, and were rescued from their homes by ropes. The weather is now fine, with a brisk breeze.
