WRECK OF A BARQUE.
(by telegraph.—pbbss association*). Invkrcargill, Last Night. THE barque Star of Erin, Capt. Hnpkino, which left the Bluff for London on Saturday, ha 3 gone ashore on the Waipapa reef, and is a total loss. All hands were saved. The vessel, which had been delayed by easterly winds, left when it shifted to tho southward. Since then the wind hue come up strong from the bob, which probably caused the loss of the ship. The wreck occurred about a mile from the lighthouse at midnight. A boat with ten men reached I'ortrose at 9 a.m., while the mate and one man landed at Waipapa. Tho captain and the remainder of the crew have since landed. At 11 a.m. yesterday only the mW.zen mast was standing. The Star of Erin's cargo for London consisted of 7,219 sacks of oats, 37,210 bales of wool, and 40 casks of tallow. The Star of Erin is an iron barque of 949 tons register.
