NELSON JUBILEE.
(BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION). Nelson, Last Night. After midday the weather cleared up enabling the volunteer review to take place in the Botanical Reserve, where the local and country corps assembled along with a detachment of blue jackets from H.M.S. Ringarooraa. After various manumvres were gone through the Minister of Defence addressed the men congratulating them on their efficiency. He thanked Captain Bourke for allowing his men to take part in the review and mentioned that this was the first time the men of the New Zealand warships had taken part in ashore demonstration. He was glad to see the Ringarooma taking part in the day's work, and thought that such action would tend to make popular the arrangement entered into between the colonies and the Imperial Government regarding the colonial navy. Mr Seddon assured the volunteers f hat as long as he was at the head of the Department he would do all in his power to encourage the massing of volunteers as he considered it would bring the men to a high state of efficiency. The Hons. Seddon and McKenzie visited the Orphanage to-day, and were greatly pleased at tue manner in which the Institution is managed.
