QUEENSLAND LOANS.

(BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. —COPYRIGHT.) LONDON, January 26. Mil Wit. Liddekdale, Governor of the Bank of England, states that Sir Samuel Griffith's reply in connection with the strictures passed by the Queensland Government on that institution simply justifies the attack, and is entirely unsatisfactory. The Bank must utterly decline to acccpt the explanation offered. Mr Lidderdale points out that the Bank, directly and indirectly, materially contributed to the final placing of the loan, and the charge was absolutely without foundation that it had left the Government in a difficulty. The Bank, he goes on to say, will continue to render services in connection with the existing loans, because they are already in the hands of the public, and cannot be interfered with ; otherwise the relations between the institution and the Queensland Government would be brought to a close at once.

The city finanoers support Mr Lidderdale in his dispute with the Queensland Government, mid the credit of that colony is suffering. Queensland Treasury Bills issued at -1 per cent, are at a minimum of !)9.
