FRUIT EXPORT.

We stnnijly recommend our friends to adopt tliiscuie instead of the Lmdon size and wo shall be glad if you will refer to paragraph 7 of the printed circular in question, and insert the word "outside" niter the figure 20 erasing the words " nails extra "unci insertinp " with sniticient nails " inst-ad. The lines will then read as follows :—" American si/.e (20 outride and 12 x 11 inside; measurement) "in shook (i.e. m bundles) with svilicient naih" etc., etc. The makers will not reduce tho price as the difference in size is so small but they will supply nails when orders are for bundles. We have already received orders for cases anions others for the London size. If therefore those of our friends who have so ordered, alter perusal of this advice, ngree to our suggestion and wish us to send the reduced American size instead, will they please communicate promptly with us. We advocate tho adoption as far as possible of a uniform size for apples exported from the district, and commend the matter to tho consideration of our friends The agents of the lonic anticipate they will not bn able to send this steamer hero on the (ith February, but they will make other arrangements, of which you will be promptly advised. \V« would direct the attention of shippers to the probable date of departure, of the Moraysh.re at the end of February, as a good opportunity of shipping to London is thus afforded between the beginning of February and the departure of the mail steamer on thel'.lth March. As many growers would probably be unable to give the definite guarantee required by our ciiculi.r No. ."., we shall be glad if they will give us as early as possible some indication as to the quantities they can ship by the opportunities above named, so as to assist us in completing arrangements with the steamship companies. With reference to our last sircular, wo nre pleased to be nblft to say tlwt we have arranged for the apple shipments intended for the s.s. lonic, leaving Lyttelton on the (ith February, to be shipped coastwise by the s.s. Ruapehu in cool chamber. This steamer is due here, from Hobart about the 25th or 20th instant, but as tho agents cannot tell until she leaves Hobart what day aha will be here, they can only give us approximately her date of arrival. We shall, however, send datinite advice on this point to those who have then given us intimation of their intention to ship immediately we hear from the agents, but as that can only be within a very few days of her actual arrival, we would advise our friends to be preparing for the above date, and if they don't hear from us, through distance or other cause, they should send the fruit down to arrive here not later than Wednesday, the 27th inst. The Rangatara, leaving here about the 3rd February, will, we hope, take any coastwise shipments that may'offer for tho Ruapehu, leaving Wellington on the 20th February, and due in London the first week in April.
