Wednesday.—(Before Captain Jackson, R.M.) Ellis v. Here te Hore.—Mr Croatian? for plaintiff.—Adjourned till next court day. Tanner v. Noki. —Claim £2 4s 2d. Mr Gresham for plaintiff.—Judgment for amount claimed, and costs £1 5s Gd. Tannkr v. Koboheke.—Claim £2 Os 4d. Mr Greshain for plaintiff.— Judgment for amount claimed, and costs £1 5s fid. Police v. Kate Tannku.—This was an information for selling whiskey on the 30th November last, at Te Kuiii, without a license. Mr Hay appeared for the prosecution on tho part of the police, and Mr Tims. Cutter, of Auckland, fur the defence. The defendant pleaded guilty. Mr Cotter said a few words in mitigation of the penalty, and Mr Hay said the police would _ not pMss for a heavy tine. The Court fined defendant £20. and costs £15. Mr Hay asked that the liquor found on the premises be forfeited. The other information against Mrs Tanner and two informations iiijsinst Henry Tanner for selling and exposing for sale liquor without a license were then withdrawn.

Police v. Pehby.—This wai a similar charge forsellin? whiskey without a license on the 21st December last at Tβ Kuiti. Mr Hay appeared for the prosecution and Mr Perry conducted his own defence in person. Several natives were called as witnesses for the prosecution and at the close of the case, Mr Perry said he hud nothing to say in deftnee beyond that he protested he never sold any liquor t) those natives and that they were perjuring themselves. His Worship said he must t;ike the evidence as it lay before him ami he would convict the defendant. Mr Hay said lie would not press the previous conviction*. Defendant was fined £M 0 and costs, £U 10s Gd. He paid £30 of it at once and was given a week to pay the balance. Tho other information for exposing for sale was withdrawn. Rangitakauako v. Nikfobd.—This was an information laid by on« native aiainst another for assault. Neither pirty h;id council and after hearing the evidence the O.mit dismissed theca^e.
