Wellington, Last Night. Thk health officer bearded the lnverarie on her arrival from Napier this morning, and found there had been no illness since the end of November. She will be quarantined nnd admitted t> pratique as soon a* •she is thoroughly fumigated. The Standing Committee of the Diocesan Synod have had under consideration the nomination of Archdeacon Miles t> the bishopric of Xolsrm. In view of the meeting of tliß Oneral Synod early next month, it was decided that in their opinion the question should be referred to it. Under a canon, the local committee were obliged to consider the nomination, it having been duly referred to them according to the regulations. The Harbour Board's accounts for the year show a falling off in the receipts oE £7-100 below the amount estimated when the charges were reduced. The trade of the port shows a steady increase, except in flax. Tho boaid has determined to raise £30,000 on debentures at not more than D per cent for the extentiou of the wharfage. .
