KARL BROS., APIARISTS.

A cONSKiN'MEXT of bees by rail in New Zealand is somewhat of a novelty. Yesterday Messrs Ivarl Hros., the well-known bee farmers of Obaupo, despatched 100 hives, filling three railway trucks, from their Mystery Creek apiary for new country at Patetero. They Hud that between sheop and the green caterpillar clover in Waikato is having a hard time of it, and as they are under arrangement to shin pure white clover honey to Messrs Reynolds and Co. for tho London market, they have found it necessary to make a move in order to carry out their contract. Owing to tho scarcity of clover, the bees resort to the flax, dandelion, ti-tree, and other flowers. These do not produce such good quality honey as the white clover. Everyone will wish success to thesu enterprising settlers, and we should say they will find ample scope for starting numerous colonies in the district they are about to go into. In connection with this removal, a passenger by the train informed us that the guard and other officials had rather a lively time of it. Aa some of the fastenings of the bee boxes got adrift, allowing tho bees to escape, it, was not very safe to go near the truck. Tho bees were in a bad temper at being shifted, and went for everyone who came near.
