Mr John Ilidler started the Rates at £50 and the bids were i'o until £115 was reached, from which tho price advanced .tl by t'l until €72 was reached, Messrs Adains and Andrews of Auckland beinc the purchasers. Ttiere was only one bid for the cards which were knocked down to Mr Genrgo W.UKATO TI.MES for £15. Tlia total amount ruaiised was tioa 15s, which must bo considered a very good sum and shows tho confidence that is felt, in the success of the mcuting.
