At the annual meeting of the Kauri Timber Company the chairman aweepingly condemned the extravagance aud laxity of the administration and want of cohesion in tho New Zealand iiianaureineiit which would be ruinous if allowed to continue. Consequently he had directed this closing of the mills although such a *tep wns not absolutely necessary, llegardmg the financial position of the company tlimigh there had been a loss of £44,000 on the year's transactions, they had after deducting all debt*, assets amounting to £94,000 ; equal to £1 13s 3d for overy pound invested and about £1 3s 10d for every £1 of paid up capital. The report was adopted.
