TE AWAMUTU.

Maci'jL.vntkrn'.— The Rev. John Hazeldon gave an exhibition of his new magic lantern slides, illustrating the life ofj Christ, last Friday night to a largo and reverend audionco in the Hall. One can have no idea of the beauty of theso pictures unless seen. They are all photos of well known pictures by all the old masters. The collection was very complete giving most of the events in our Lord's life from tho Angels' visit to tho Virgin to tho Ascension. Mr Hazelden gave a descriptive lecture connecting tho various scenes shown on tho sheet and was listened to with rapt attention. During the evening at appropriate intervals the following programmo was given by the members of St. John's choir, each item being very well rendered. Sacred songs: "Consider the lillies how they grow," Mrs Andrew ; " The Hetter Land," Mrs Burgess ; " He wipes the tear," Mrs (ireshaui ; " Rock of Ages," Miss Storey; "Jerusalem," Mrs Burgess and two hymns, " At even ero tho sun was set," and ; ' The Head that once was crowned with thorns."

Musical Socibty.— The musical society intend to give a performance of the sacred piece, "Christ and his Soldiers" in the Hal! on the Ifith pros. The members have boon in steady rehearsal under their talented conductor Mr Burgess for the last six months, so all lovers of good music may expect a roal treat.

Dance.—The final dance of the Te Awa mutu Assembly took place in the Hall last Thursday night and was pronounce I by all to havo been the most successful fathering of the season. The committee had been working like Trojans for the past fortnight and as a result they had tho Hall nicely decorated with evergreens and flowers, the floor and music good and tho suppe,r very recherche*. The party which numbered over fifty broke up at an early hour only regretting that this was the last of those pleasant reunions.
