THE WALTER A. WOOD MOWING AND REAPING MACHINES.

In our issue of the 13th inst. we published a full account of the above machines as exhibited at Cambridge, by the firm's travelling representative, Mr Pickering. Throughout the district Mr Pickering did very good business booking orders for several machiuos, and receiving promises of further orders on his return to tha district just prior to the harvest time, when he will arrange to give a trial of these machinss at which it is hoped some other machines may compete so as tj allow of farmers comparing their different advantages. Judging from past competitions there can be no doubt as to the speriority of the Wood machines, which as prize winners stand unrivalled. They took the highest awarded at the Paris Exposition in 18S9, and the Melbourne Centennial in 18S8, at the London Inventions Exhibition in 18S5, and they also have a long list of over 1250 other first prizes. The firm has appointed Mr T. Slade, of Hamilton, as general agent for Waikato, from whom machines and duplicate fittings for all parts may be obtained. As all parts of the machine are easily removable without special tools or skilled labour, a break down should only involve a few hours' delay. This is a very important item, and no doubt will have considerable weight with many farmers whose losses in previous years have not beon small owing to the difficulty in replacing parts which have got out of order during harvesting.
