RETAIL COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sin, —I have been waiting to see if an abler pen than mine would take up the above matter. There are no less than five of these gentry, who periodically scour the Waikato and who do local people an immense amount of harm. In the interests of Waikato business people, it is time the Council imposed a heavy tax on them. In tlia North each retail traveller has to pay £5 every time he enters a district ; the amount might be doubled here or made an annual one of £50, as they are of no use in supporting local institutions of any ki.id. Trusting that some abler pen will further vuntilate the matter, —I am, etc., Os-LOOKKH.
