THE NEW POSTAL RATES.
Tub following alterations in the rates of postage have now come into force For United Kingdom (by all routes), British colonies and possessions, and all foreign countries: Letters. 2W per half ounce; post cards, single lid, reply 3d. Reply post cards may be sent at inland rates (ono peuuy) to Australia and South Sea Islands.
Commercial papers: In town of posting, half-ounce Ad, four ounces Id, every addir tional two ounces nil ; for delivery at another post office, Australia, or South Sea Islands, four ounces Id, every additional two ounces Ad ; United Kingdom, British colonies and possessions and foreign countries, five ounces 2£d, every additional two ounces Id. Printed papers, including books : Within the colony, two ounces ; beyond the colony, four ounces Id, each additional two ounces Ad.
Patterns and samples : Everywhere, four ounces IJ, each additional two ounces, Ad. Newspapers : Inland, Ad each ; United Kingdom, Australian colonies, and South Soa Islands, Id each ; all other places, four ounces Id, each additional two ounces, Ail. Registration fee, 3d everywhere. Redirection fee abolished.
Commercial papers include legal documents (except those having the character of actual or personal correspondence) waybills, bills of lading, invoices, other documents of mercantile character, of insurance and other componies, all kinds of manuscript, newspapoc articles, and other papers of similar description, trade and professional accounts, printed rate notices, receipts from road boards, etc., for delivery ill New Zealand ; out of the colony, letter rates. Commercial'papers must be forwarded m wrappers or in open envelopes, and should have .stated thereon the name and address of senders.
