HILL BROS.' V. WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.
Thk Compensation Court which has been sitting at Huntly on the Hill Bros.' claim against the Waikato County Council for compensation for lar.d taken for a road to Matahura, was closed on Wednesday, when judgment was given as follows : It was awarded that the claimants receive tho sum of £70 in liquidation of their claim on all accounts. Ono of tho assessors dissents, on the ground that the award should not be cash, but should be expended in fencing the lino of road taken ; each party to pay their own costs ; claimants to pay the cost of conveying the court to view the site ; each parte to pay their own assessor ; Mr Claude £22 4s, Mr White £20 Ss, and Jlr Sandes to be paid half each by each party for one day. The total cost to the council is £212 '.Is, the witnesses expenses being over £GO, and legal expenses over t'ol).
