KIHIKIHI.

Evangelistic Services.—Owing to tho inclemency of the weather on Friday last, tho services announced to be held in the Presbyterian Church fell through. A few persons only attended, tho result being that a short prayer meeting was all that took place. Cmirsr Cunncii. -The Rev. H. B. McFarland conducted divine service in this church on Saturday night last. The congregation was large and the rev. gentleman's sermon was very much appreciated.

Social.—On Monday night one of the most successful socials that lias ever taken place here, came off in the Public Hall. Tho attendance was good, upwards of thirty-five dancing couples being present, including visitors from Cimbridgeand the surrounding district-, and an excellent programme was disposed of. The music was all that could be desired, and was rendered, principally, by Messrs Patterson (piano), Goodfellow (violin) and Tristram (cello), who were occasionally relieved during the evening by the Misses E. Farroll and Lowther (piano) Refreshment were plentifully provided, and it is needless to say, were fully appreciated by all present. Dancing was indulged in until o a.m., whon all dispersed to their respective homes, each declaring it to have been the best night's amusement they have had for a long while. On all sides the question asked wis " Who is the belle 'As all tho ladies looked charming it is u difficult matter to decide, but the honour was equally divided among three whoso names it would not be safe to mention. The proceeds, which aro to bo devoted towards roofing tho uncovered porlion of tho Roman Catholic Church with now hive far exceeded expectation', much to the satisfaction of tho promoters, who loft nothing undone that was likely to mako tho affair a success.
